The Governor’s Phase 2 still has restrictions regarding event facilities (Lake Charles Civic Center and L’Auberge Casino Resort).  There are still restrictions in place regarding large groups and facilities capacity.  Therefore, LRWA has cancel the 2020 Annual Conference.  You may request a refund or transfer to October 12-15, 2020 in Alexandria for the Mini-Conference.

SEEKING EXPERTS TO PRESENT

At the LRWA 2020 Conference

The Louisiana Rural Water Association has opened the Call for Presentations for the 2020 Annual Conference scheduled for July 13-16 at the Lake Charles Civic Center, Lake Charles, Louisiana. Those who are wishing to volunteer to provide presentation(s) for consideration please complete one of the forms below.

Remember sessions should be devoid of advertisement. We are looking for topics relevant to the water and wastewater industry (new technology, security, utility management and board training, etc.). The Conference offers training opportunities for all aspects of the water and wastewater industry, from operation to management to regulation. LRWA offers specialized education and networking opportunities specifically designed for utility managers, town council members and utility board members.

The deadline to submit a conference presentation is February 24, 2020, at which time LRWA will begin selecting presentations for the agenda. We will complete the agenda in March so it is crucial that you contact LRWA by February 24, 2020, if you want to provide a presentation. The call for presentations will remain open until all conference timeslots are filled. The dates needed for the presentations are July 14, 15 & 16 (Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday).

Louisiana Rural Water Association Annual conference is designed to bring together water and wastewater utility systems – large and small, municipal and rural – for sessions in operations, management, boardmanship and governance.

AWARDS NOMINATION

Each year LRWA recognizes the systems and system operations specialists (operators) who have gone above and beyond in operations, maintenance, and management of water and wastewater systems as well as outstanding office personnel who are necessary to keep the systems running smoothly. The deadline to submit nominations is March 6, 2020. Awards will be presented at a luncheon on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

WATER TASTE TEST

Do you have the best tasting water in Louisiana?

The Louisiana Rural Water Association is looking for the best drinking water from a Public Water System in the state to represent Louisiana’s rural water systems in a nationwide competition for the year 2021. The Taste Test will take place at our Annual Training & Technical Conference on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 10:00am. A panel of judges will taste the water samples, the results will be tallied, and the winner will be announced during the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. The winner will represent Louisiana at the Great American Water Taste Test in Washington D.C. in February, 2021.

It’s all about Good Taste!

Taste Test Rules:
The system must be a member of LRWA
Collect water in a quart size glass container (be sure to package water carefully)
Please do not fill container to the top
DO NOT “chill” water
Label the container with your system name, contact person & phone number
Water will be accepted at the Conference Registration Desk Sunday, July 12th (1pm-5pm) and Monday and July 13th (7am-4pm)
Deadline to submit form if you plan to compete is June 29, 2020. Don’t forget to bring your water sample to the conference.
